Immediately after withdrawing the endoscope from the patient, use an enzymatic gauze pad to wipe away any visible fecal matter and mucus from the exterior surface.
Next, immerse the distal tip of the endoscope into an enzymatic cleaning solution. Activate the suction mechanism to draw the enzymatic solution through the internal channels, thereby softening any dried or impacted fecal matter.
Insert the cleaning brush into the channel; while simultaneously infusing the enzymatic solution, rapidly move the brush back and forth at least 3 to 5 times.
Due to the considerable length of the endoscope, it is recommended that this step be performed by two individuals working in tandem: one to stabilize the endoscope shaft, and the other to manipulate the cleaning brush.
Prior to immersing the endoscope in the cleaning basin for soaking, a leak test must be performed.
If a leak is detected, under no circumstances should the device be brushed or scrubbed; instead, it must be sent for immediate repair to prevent liquid ingress into the internal components, which could damage the optical system.
Completely submerge the endoscope in a multi-enzymatic cleaning solution. Insert the cleaning brush into the channel; once the brush head is observed to fully emerge from the biopsy port, pull it back. Repeat this insertion and retraction motion at least 10 times.
